Marcia De Gouw, MPT, HBA KIN & P.E
As a fitness enthusiast and former competitive dancer and athlete, Marcia appreciates the gift of movement and the importance of being able to move with ease. Unfortunately, when movement is disrupted by injury or pain, it affects us both physically and mentally and can severely disrupt our quality of life. As a Registered Physiotherapist at Damen Optimal Health Team, Marcia is passionate about helping you find the joy in moving again, whatever your injury or issue might be. She wants to help you get back to doing the things that bring happiness to your life!
Marcia is a Registered Physiotherapist licensed with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University and her Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of Western Ontario. She has completed her Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy Levels and her training in Contemporary Acupuncture.
Marcia is also a Registered Pelvic Health Therapist and is passionate about working with women through all stages of life. As a busy mom of two little ones, she particularly enjoys working with both prenatal and postnatal populations as she understands that a “Mama” needs to move.
Marcia grew up as a competitive Canadian and Irish Stepdancer and represented Canada internationally. Her background in dance has made her more aware of the importance of good posture and a strong core in injury prevention and rehabilitation, as well as in optimizing sport performance and daily function. Marcia has completed Clinical Pilates Instructor training through the Advanced Physical Therapy Institute and Stott Pilates and enjoys teaching both private and group classes.
At Damen Optimal Health Team, Marcia looks forward to combining her ongoing education with her wealth of experience to customize a rehabilitation program that’s right for you.
